Procedure for emergency undo of project update

In emergency cases, it may be necessary to undo an update to the version of the application that was built on the VSoft archITekt platform.

This section describes the steps to manually restore an older version of VSoft archITekt.

1. Uninstall the latest versions of the platform and install an older version.

You need to manually uninstall previous versions using Microsoft Windows functionality (Add/Remove programs):

  1. VSoft archITekt NNN Image, where NNN is the name of the image version
  2. VSoft Document Services Addin

2. Install an older version of the platform

Install the older version of the platform using the direct link to the installer provided by the VSoft archITekt support team. The installer will automatically install any required components in the older version.

3. Manually modify the project file

You need to update the project file manually by decreasing the version number in it to which the project has been updated:

  1. Get the version number (the first two numbers of the version number) from the [archITekt image directory]\version.json file.

For example, in the case of a standard installation for version "21", this would be the file

C:Program Files\VSoft\archITekt\Images\21\version.json.

\{
"version": "21.9.30213.1823",
"image": "21"
\}

In this case, the version number is „21.9”.

  1. Next, we update the [project directory]\project.json file by changing the "ArchITektVersion" entry in it to the text "AAA.BBB.0.0", where "AAA.BBB" is the read version number.

In the example presented, it will be replaced as follows:

"ArchITektVersion": "21.9.0.0",

4. Update databases manually

It is necessary to update the database to the state appropriate for the previous version of VSoft archITekt. This can be done in two ways:

  1. Restore the backup of the databases from before the update - if, of course, it is possible to do so
  2. Restore the state of the databases manually by:
  • executing the following script on all databases of the application:

NOTE! This step should be performed if you are backtracking between versions (e.g. from version "21.10" to version "21.9"). If you are backtracking within one major number (e.g., within version 21.10), this step should be skipped

DECLARE @VERSION varchar(1024)
SET @VERSION = 'AAA.BBB’ – w miejsce AAA.BBB należy podać wersję VSoft archITekt, np. 21.9
INSERT INTO [dbo].[_DATABASE_UPDATE_JOURNAL] ([DJ_DB_VERSION],[DJ_DB_UPDATE_STATUS],
[DJ_DB_UPDATE_PHASE],[DJ_SCRIPT_NAME],[DJ_SCRIPT_EXECUTION_STATUS],
[DJ_SCRIPT_EXECUTION_START],[DJ_SCRIPT_EXECUTION_FINISH],
[DJ_SCRIPT_EXECUTED_BY],[DJ_SCRIPT_EXECUTION_WARNINGS])

VALUES (@VERSION + '!999','COMPLETED','COMPLETED_VERSION',
'archITekt version downgrade','OK',GETDATE(),GETDATE(),SYSTEM_USER,
'archITekt version downgrade')
  • Execution of other scripts on databases, if any, provided by VSoft archITekt support team.

5. Perform updates to the environment components.

After the above steps, the final application will run on the previous version of VSoft archITekt.
