The most important changes made in the second quarter of 2022 are described below.
Convenient management of OnPremises environments
With the current release, VSoft Launcher has been extended with the ability to manage OnPremises environments.
The management of such environments was (and still is) performed by the administrator by running PowerShell scripts. From now on, it is much more convenient, because Launcher has a user interface, where you can conveniently
- configure the parameters of the OnPremises environment and install or upgrade it,
- manage it and verify the state of its components, check the history of actions on the environment and download logs,
- manage environments in all supported configurations: from a single server to a cluster of servers, from installation on a local computer to installation on a remote computer even outside the domain.
Launcher itself will ensure that as a result of administrator actions were prepared to run the required PowerShell scripts. In addition, before running each script, it will give the administrator a preview of prepared and ready to run commands.
More convenient configuration of connections to external databases
The current release of VSoft archITekt has simplified configuration management of external data sources used by our application. Now the configuration of connections to external databases is saved directly in the technical configuration. It means that from now on, that to configure the connection to an external database simply add two configuration keys. Any additional changes to the files of the installed environment are not required.
Support for Microsoft Windows Server 2022
Starting with the current release VSoft archITekt officially supports running on Windows Server 2022.
New look of web application
VSoft archITekt shows its prettier side! From the current Release, the process of refreshing the appearance of the web interface has started.
The process will continue in future releases.
New control for editing formatted text
VSoft archITekt controls set has been extended by a convenient formatted text editor
Depending on the selected mode of the control, it allows:
- to edit a formatted text (edit mode) - then the control is displayed with all editing options,
- to display it (the "read-only" mode) - only the saved content is presented.
Extended use of permissions in the system
Starting from the current version of VSoft archITekt, the mechanism of access to particular elements of the application is based only on application permissions (basing permissions directly on roles is still supported but not recommended).
Using an extended grid of permissions in an application enables easier mapping them to roles, even if the role names differ between environments.
Using the business name of data model objects in the system
Starting with this release, when defining a data model you can specify a business name for each of its fields. This is then used each time in the system when referring to a given business field:
- Is used as descriptive field names on a form when a field is dragged onto it from the data model
- It is used as the header and filter name when using the given field to define a list.
However, if you do not specify a business name for a given field, the system will automatically attempt to change the technical names of the data model fields to the business name.
